Antique Victorian cape ivory silk with lace trim Civil War era
Regular priceSale price
This is a beautiful silk cape from the Civil War era . The cape is fashioned of a ribbed silk in a French vanilla coloring. The lace trim on this piece is a cotton and silk. The cape is in 2 circular tiers. The inner tier does have some shatter to the silk lining around the neckline edge and down the back. It would be fine to wear, as it does not show, but eventually this silk will need to be replaced. There is a silk faille bow at the neckline center. There was a hook and eye closure at the neckline and only the eye is present. The outer silk on this cape is very strong with no staining, no weakness or holes. This would be a lovely cape for bridal wear.
Size: This will fit most body sizes as it is circular. The neckline measures 12" around. Back neckline to bottom edge measures 35". Back neckline to the bottom of the upper tier is 25".
